OBX for the weekend đź’™

As I sit here trying to think about how to start this only one thing comes to mind, get up and get out. The World may be in chaos but don’t ever forget to live! This weekend we got some much needed Vitamen sea!

Friday was finally here, we pack our bags and load the Jeep with all of our sleeping gear and bags. We start to prep for one wild weekend. But, of course it is my life so we know that something is bound to change. This trip was just that.

Right, after work we hop in the Jeep and head off to Coinjock,NC. The OBX is only a short 1.5 hours from us and holds so much to explore. Do we have a plan? Well…. We did ha ha. We left the house about 7:30 PM and arrived to the KOA about 8:30 PM.

Now, if you follow my social media you know that we built a bed platform in the Jeep to provide a more comfortable sleeping accommodation. I was super excited to test this out. We did buy some foam from Walmart and sheets and gave it a go! Here is where it got funny and well, um a moment where I asked myself. What the heck was I thinking.

8:30 PM we arrive in Coinjuck at the KOA. the KOA in the dark wasn’t too hard to navigate. Once we arrive to the campsite and get out and stretch our legs, we start to setup camp and prepare to rest and relax for a long day on Saturday. I wanted to be cute and have lights hung in the Jeep and well… we did it. Thinking back now, that was probably the worst idea. Not only did the bugs flock like crazy, but I am pretty dang sure I might of gotten a bug stuck in my ear. 🤣 like really! That stuff only happens to me.

Once camp was all setup we start to settle down and lay down. But wait, oh my god! Who let Summer pick a weekend to go camping… Have you ever tried to camp in 100% humidity and during a heat wave? No, we’ll don’t ever do it. Let’s just say we wound up closing up the Jeep and sleeping with some Jeep AC set at a comfortable 70°. The bed design worked out just like I had hoped. Besides hitting our heads on the soundbar a few times due to how high we made it, I would have to say it was a 10/10 choice to make.

Bright and early Saturday morning, we wake up and head over to the KOA general store to seek breakfast. Normally, they have a cafe that serves breakfast. Little did we know they didn’t right now because of no staff to help. So crap, now what do we eat. Thank god for little things like cereal and milk they had available to purchase. We sit and enjoy a quiet little quick breakfast before we head out to Diggers dungeon where the real fun started!

Diggers dungeon, what is that you ask? Welllllll it’s only the home of the greatest monster truck ever, Grave digger! Grave digger is out of Poplar Branch, NC and I never knew that until recently. Here they provide monster truck rides, animal petting zoo, mini monster truck power wheels and a gift shop for merch. That is not all you can see, if weather is nice they will have the garage doors open and you can see even more trucks. Heck, you may even see some work being done. This I would have to say was an incredible experience and the happiness of a 5 year old there, was among one of the greatest feelings!

Now if you thought that was the end of the day, you would be wrong. Next of course we head over further into the outer banks. We were headed to drive down the beach from Corolla to Corva when we got side tracked by a boat rental sign. Jo has wanted to buy a boat for next summer and I have been against it. Ok ok fine, let’s rent one and I’ll tell ya how I feel after. That is how we wound up in the Curriteck sound on a pontoon boat for 2 hours on the water. That was probably the most fun I have had outside of Jeeping. So many laughs and smiles happened out on that boat. We as a family have not had that in a very long time. Another story that won’t be told another day. Sorry not sorry. Anyways, out of the personal stuff. 2 hours on the sound and swimming and having an incredible day, yes… I want a boat Lmfao!

Every good day has to come to and end. Although we left sunburnt, hot and exhausted, I would have to say our weekend adventure was more than a success!

I could type for days and days if you couldn’t tell. Remember, life’s too short to not live. Get out and explore 💙
