Traveling with Summer part 1; VA > Denver, CO
You know those trips that you spend months after months planning for? This was one of those trips. The day had come that I was looking forward to for what felt like forever…
Bright and early on Thursday morning of September 17, Turbo, Ax and I loaded up into the truck and we headed to drop Axel off at school before Turbo an I headed off on our adventure across the states.

Why were we heading west again? Well that’s a good question. One of our stops included Montrose, CO to wheel with some of the most amazing people and some incredible rigs. I do plan to tell you more of that but for now make sure to follow Crawl5280 and watch out for season 3 to see what crap I got myself into. 😉
But, there was way more to this trip than getting to wheel and see new bucket list trails.
From Portsmouth to Denver was about 25-26 hours that we spread out into about 3 days. That is crossing into a total of 8 states including VA. Sounds exhausting, an your right. What the heck was I thinking.
The first leg of this trip was easy. I’ve driven through VA an WV so many times and the views are something that I can not even begin to explain. The Gorge area was added onto my bucket list. That bucket list keeps growing. Anyways, from Portsmouth, VA we trucked our way all the way to the border of Illinois! That was about 13 or so hours. I had only planned 9 for that day! So we were winning! FYI, sleeping at a truck stop or rest area is probably one of the coolest and honestly I feel super safe and have great convos with some of the truckers!!!

Day 2: today would consist of literally almost making it to our destination. I told my self to pace my self but once I get driving it is just like second nature. I keep going and the views and the feeling of open road just keep me thriving. From the border of Illnois to the border of Colorado or well a little ways in we stopped in Burlington. Could I of made it to Denver? yea probabmy, but I was in no rush and I was already beyond exhausted at this point. So we went ahead and stopped showered, and layed down in a bed! Those two things were like heaven after already driving so long. We would be able to finish off the first leg of this trip bright and early in the AM.

Day 3: Yay! 4 hours to Denver and we can relax and finally see some friends and decompress a little bit before the second leg of our trip. Upon arrival in Denver we start to look for a hotel to call home for a few nights. OmG! That was so much fun. I highly frown upon towing around a 35ft trailer with jeeps through town when you are already beyond exhausted. But, thanks to a friend we had in Denver we were able to park the truck and get the Jeep off to drive around.
The next few days were spent in Denver around some great friends, much needed exploring and soul soothing adventures were had. something about getting away for awhile with old and new friends is good for the soul. I wish I could say I did more while in the area… but, the exhaustion was real and we saved all our energy for the days to come.

Next up!! Bucket list trip to Montrose, CO 💕
